THE MIRPURI FOUNDATION RACING TEAM HAS ANNOUNCED THE OFFICIAL ENTRY OF ITS VO65 ‘RACING FOR THE PLANET’ BOAT IN THE FIFTH EDITION OF the Mirpuri Foundation Sailing Trophy.

The Mirpuri Foundation Racing Team has just announced the official entry of its VO65 boat ‘Racing for the Planet’ in one of the biggest and most prestigious regattas in Portugal, the Mirpuri Foundation Sailing Trophy. Organized by the Mirpuri Foundation in partnership with the Clube Naval de Cascais, the regatta returns in its Fifth Edition with the best national and international sailors returning to Cascais for the beginning of the summer season, between the 5th and 7th of July.

The VO65 named “Racing for the Planet”, which participated in the The Ocean Race 2023 and was the winner of The Ocean Race Europe in 2021, will compete in Portuguese waters, continuing to spread the Mirpuri Foundation campaign “Racing for the Planet – #StopClimateChange”, which aims to raise awareness of the serious problems affecting our oceans and global warming.

As part of the three-day festival of sailing, this year’s edition of the Mirpuri Foundation Sailing Trophy sees classes racing across multiple events, including NHC, ORC, J70, SB20, Snipe, Finn and Optimists.

Victorious in the inaugural edition of the regatta in 2020, the Mirpuri Foundation Racing Team has won the VO65 class trophy in all editions and line honours again in 2023.

The first of two days of racing for the team gets underway on Saturday July 6 2024 and the crew who will steer Racing for the Planet will be announced in the coming weeks.
